Hello and welcome to the latest issue of the Shruganaut News!
It appears that the Shruganaut News has outlived the newsletter whose name it borrowed. That is either really cool, or a bit lame. Sometimes in life it is hard to decide which is which. Philosophical meanderings aside...
- This year's Circle Jerk was a big mess of fun, as usual. We covered The Romantic Andes, The Crawfords, and The Changing Same. The gig was recorded, but unlike other years where the whole show has been downloadable from here, each band's recordings have just been given to them to put out or not. Our songs are up on our website right now.
- We've put our last album How to Knit a Pony on last.fm. You can stream each full song for free.
- A few songs from our new album, Grasshopper City, is up on our myspace page.
- The Nature's Worst compilation, which included our song 'The Tonguing of a Broken Tooth', got a nice write-up in the paper. There are some good tracks on there by the likes of Voom, The Postgraduates and C90.
- We have a few shows coming up:
August 12th at Flow Bar, Hamilton, as part of the Black Thursdays series
August 20 at the Wine Cellar, Auckland with the Changing Same
September 24 at the Whammy Bar, Auckland with Sora Shima and more tba
- And now it's time for your favourite part: the brainteaser.
Which member of the Datsuns mixed the Shrugs song 'Sorry Ian'? You've got a one-in-four chance to get it right, and the first person to email us the correct answer wins a copy of our new album (when it is pressed of course)!
That's all for now. Remember to wash between your ears.
